New Experience - Travel to Mexico

Mexico Adventure
Today is Tue. 12/7/2010

I have safely arrived in Brownsville, Texas after spending several days in Mexico. It is good to be back in the USA after an exciting adventure in Mexico. I am waiting for the bus to take me to the Mall and possibly a movie. So I will tell about my adventure as best I recall it from the beginning.

I left Dallas for Tapico, Mexico to visit friends on a Wednesday night. Everything went well. When we stopped at the boarder after entering Mexico, they did not search any of our baggage. We were told to exit the bus and go into a building. In a few minutes a man came around and asked for papers. I showed my passport, he looked at it, then he nodded I could leave. I immediately when back to the bus and waited. Soon everyone returned to the bus so we could leave. ( I was warned when returning to the US that I could be fined $300.00 dollars for the orange that I neglected to declare. I asked, "even if you have a bad memory". The agent said, "Ignorance is no excuse.)

The trip went well from the boarder to Tampico. Only problem was the road was very bad, and I got kind of sea sick from all the bumping around on the road. But as soon as I got off the bus my stomach got better. We were also slowed by a flat tire. So we stopped about a half hour outside of Tampico, where I bought some coconut and chips. I was kind of hungry because I had no eaten in several hours. Although I had several opportunities to eat, I don't like to eat at small unfamiliar places.

When I got to Tampico I had some trouble calling my friends because the number changed from what I was using while calling from the US. I think it then became 0-44-# or possibly 0-44-1=#. The guy at the internet rental place told me. (My laptop was in Spanish when I logged on and had a .com.mx or .com/mx. I tried to contact Cuba from the bus station computers, but I could find no reasonable contractors.)

Tampico was enjoyable. I stayed at some very nice hotels, and a dumps. The first one was the nicest place that I have ever rented .. 669 paseos a night. The last was 200 paseos, but I think I was overcharged by $100.00 paseos. (I am stumped. I can't remember what we did the first night in Tampico. I am curious because I am pretty sure we went out, but I don't remember what we did then.

I was surprised by the number of people in downtown Tampico, and the number of old buildings. We went to the beach with some family members and fished from the light house pier. Someone caught a sea urchin, and we saw kite surfers. We also went to a family park and saw clowns and a real crocodile behind a fence by the Lago de Carpentero. We took a ride in the country and saw some outstanding houses. The restaurants where we ate were all very nice. I think one pizza place played a trick on us. We ordered a medium pizza with different ingredients on each side. They brought out two pizzas instead of one. Each of the two sides had different ingredients on each side.

When I left from Tampico going to Matamoros, the bus was really nice. I was on a new double decker and they had really relaxing music which was individualized with head phones they gave us. It was an uncomfortable ride however. The seats went all the way back, but there was another passenger next to me and I could not spread out. Fortunately I did not have to pee at all during the night (which is unusual), because I was on the inside seat. The bus station in Tampico was very big with lots of busy bus companies. However, the Matamoros station was small, and you had to climb the stairs to get to the only bathroom.

When I arrived at the station in Matamoros, it was early in the morning. I had been listening to Jack Canfield's tri sync integration process several times during the trip, so I was determined to accomplish something while I was there. I was quite frustrated in the morning however, because I took a taxi to Dr. Carlos Lazano office. I had the idea that it was a hospital because it had a nice website. I could have been mistaken however. He may have had a connection with a hospital as well, but I wasn't impressed with his clinic. The "home" phone number was his office #. He was not scheduled to be in until 11:00 and since it was early in the morning, I was not interested in hanging around.

So I headed out with my heavy luggage, and walked quite a ways. Then I saw a nice grocery store where I had some fried chicken. I had a good rest in the cafeteria area. I also learned that i could stash my bags at their customer service desk. That gave me liberty to take an exploratory bus ride. So I took a ride down Sexta Rd. until I came to a mall. Hmm! That is were I can get wifi. So I went back and got my bags and made a trip back to the Mall. I started at McDonalds but could not find a connections. So i walked over to the mall and got one inside. I searched for hostels in Matamoros, but found none.

Shortly after a young man struck up a conversation in the mall. He told me about some hotels in the area, and I told him I was looking for a cheap one. He recommended the Rosy Hotel on the square in downtown Matamoros and said he was willing to show me how to get there. (Of course he wanted to make the arrangements there so he could get a cut.) His name was Adrian. I told him that I want to teach EFT to the children that worked on the street. His English was not good and neither was my Spanish so later we went to the computer rental store. There we translated instructions on how and why we would do EFT.

In a few minutes, he said that he had a friend that could speak some English. His name was Isreal and together the 3 of us walked over to where they rent computers. After I had spent some time explained the process of EFT, Isreal began say that it was not a good idea to work with the children in the area. He said that the mafia controlled everything in the city and especially that area of downtown. He said the police acted like police but were really mafia in disguise, and that they might not like us talking with "their children". I am not 100% certain because of our language barrier, but I got the idea from talking with these two guys that there might be some child sex trafficking in that area of town. So I agreed that it might be a little risky trying to find some street children to teach EFT to.

So they showed me around, and we walked to where the police and mafia had a shoot out about a month ago. I got some good videos on my web cam of the thousands of bullet holes in the walls where the shoot out took place. There was blood on the walls and tales of helicopters shooting from over head. Several of the business on that block had shut down as a result of the skirmish. We walked along several blocks of street where an escape was attempted by the mafia. There was broken glass and holes in the wall for quite a distance along the route. A school yard enclosure was right behind the office building where the event took place.

Then we walked beside a cathedral and they said that there was a mafia funeral going on. Well after giving it some thought I decided they must be right. There were 4 beautiful shiny new crew cab trucks parked on the curb in front of the cathedral. The kind you would see at the State Fair turning on a giant turntable with a beautiful lady extolling its virtues. The back end of these trucks had amazingly big sprays of flowers. When the guys said it was a mafia funeral, I lost the urge to stare, but thought it best to head in the other direction. Who knows when another shoot out might take place as these guys were obviously sitting ducks. And who else but the mafia could afford that kind of gaudy display of wealth in the area of a city know for its poverty and unemployment.

By this time I had built some confidence in these guys giving me a tour of this dysfunctional city. At least as compared to the "good and bad guys" that were having a turf battle. So when he stopped at a restaurant for a soda, I was caught off guard when they asked to add their phone numbers to my wallet directory. It seemed like a reasonable request. But when I set my wallet on the table and open my little phone book, Isreal grab it and ran out the door. Adrian soon took off after him and came back in three minutes with an empty wallet.
I had $2,000 paseos in it. The exchange rate is 12 to 1 so I think that is about $160. to $180. dollars. Adrian said he was really surprised at Isreal's behavior. I didn't know whether to believe him or think that they were in it together. Any way I was really glad to have my drivers license and bank cards back.

As I think back on the events of the week, there was one which I believe (or at least hope) was more than a coincidence. Certainly God hates to see children at the mercy of such ruthless people in a ruthless city. Well just the night before I left Dallas for Mexico I came across the forum pages of a web site I have been studying. Let me explain further. For perhaps a year or more I have been searching for internet marketing resources and ways of making money on line. I took the 30 day money back guarantee of Keyword Rock star as I have done with other sites many times before. It was quite expensive but trusting the guarantee I took a chance. After examining it I could see that there were marketers which I had grown to trust endorsing.

Children are Innocent

Train Up a Child
Training children starts at home.  How important is it to educate the children and send them to school to learn what they ought to learn during their childhood.  The home is the best place actually to train and teach each child.  The parents should learn to assist their children on what they learn at school when they are at home.  It is true that children need a lot of parental care.  They deserved love and utmost concern.

Angela Phillips Diaz said that the children should be provided a medium that encourages their interest in exploring the subjects important to developing early skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.  They should be taught to be morally upright too.  The minds of children are like fertile soil, it should be sown by right seeds.

Not in Way that Children Shouldn't Go
How does it feel like when we see the contrary? There are countries around the world wherein parents themselves shove their children to child prostitution because of poverty.  What consequence should it form in the innocent mind of these children?  Will you wage to fight child exploitation and obscenity or will engage yourself in the dark world of human trafficking?

The Significance of collaboration of communities, child care workers, law enforcement, among others should be stressed and it is not enough to know that there is an Anti-Trafficking Law.

Strengthen the family which is the strongest block in the community.

Unforgetable Experience in Matamoros

I didn't have any opportunity seeing Dr. Lozano so I sent him an email and I am thankful he replied to my message.  Here's my email to him.

                                                                                                             Wednesday Dec. 15, 2010

Hello Dr. Lozano,
Thank you for your reply to my email. I stopped by your office when I was in Matamoros, but you were not due in your office until 11:00. I was carrying some heavy bags and did not feel like waiting. I may return during the first part of 2011. I will try to contact you again at that time.  Thank you for your willingness to help. Perhaps there is a way you can help me.

I am a student of Psychology and one of my most recent subjects is Emotional Freedom Techniques.     (http://www.emofree.com/) One of the reasons that I wanted to talk to you was to find children with mental or physical health issues who could benefit from this excellent therapy. I only spent one day in Matamoros, but I went downtown and saw what may have been a Cartel funeral.  I also saw and video recorded were the police and the cartel had a gun fight a while back. I talked to local residence who believe that there may be sex trafficking of young children in Matamoros.

I will  look forward to talking to you on my next visit to Matamoros.

                                                                                 Sincerely,
                                                                                 Kenneth Hightower

I am planning of going back to Matamoros and make some study and verifying what I had observed the last time i went there.
